Kaiser’s Room

Nonprofit

In Person

Kaiser’s Room, founded by Stephane Duret, is a NYC-based non-profit that offers arts programming to individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities. The organization provides intimate classes such as dance, acting, and musical theatre, as well as interactive, multi-sensory theatrical experiences. Stephane Duret is a performer by trade, last seen in the Broadway production of Kinky Boots. One of his first professional acting jobs out of school was as Scout in Chicago Children's Theatre's RED KITE: ROUND UP!, a multi-sensory show where 8 actors took 10 Autistic kids on an imaginary camping trip using puppets, projections, and music to create an immersive experience. Upon arriving in NYC he worked as a "playroom friend" in a parent-run Son-Rise program, and together these experiences inspired Stephane to launch Kaiser’s Room, a safe space where people on the spectrum explore self-expression through the performing arts.
