Web Development
I'm a web developer and designer dedicated to helping clients build and maintain their websites using open source tools. My mission is to make the internet more accessible, affordable, and private, breaking away from the dominance of megacorporations. I chose to become a freelance web developer after seeing too many people misled by the marketing campaigns of companies like Square, Wix, and Squarespace. My goal is to empower clients to take control of their online presence, avoiding the confines of site builders' ecosystems and simplifying complex tech jargon. I strive to equip my clients with the knowledge and tools needed to confidently manage their own online platforms, regardless of whether they want me to continue supporting with editing/maintenance or not. I also am realistic about the challenges around marketing when having the ethics that I do (ie privacy being one of my main goals), and typically try to refer out to other QPOC for things like social media management, SEO, SEM, and other marketing related things. Above all, I'm detail-oriented to a fault, and pride myself on doing the very best that I can do regardless of what I'm working on, and learning something from each project that I work on. In addition to my web development work, I am a musician and music educator, focusing on guitar and bass. I try to live by the flexible, rule-breaking spirit of jazz, balancing my personal and professional life between creativity and perfectionism (aka imposter syndrome :>). Finally, I am so grateful to my clients and members of my community for giving me the opportunity to work predominantly with queer clients, freeing me from the constraints of pleasing cishet bosses 🥳
