Developmental Editing
📖💭 For non-fiction writing (whether academic or not), I can help in an early drafting stage by providing detailed feedback and suggestions on the overall flow, organization, structure, argumentation, etc. of a text. 📒 (Using email, Track Changes in Word documents, and – if desired – Zoom or phone meetings) 💻 💡This "developmental editing" service does NOT include copy editing or proofreading (i.e., it does not include editing for grammar, style, consistency, etc.), since it is feedback on non-finalized content, which is still being drafted.💡 (Most experienced with Social Sciences & Humanities.) 📝
Academic Editing
Academic Editing (Copyediting) 📚 Includes feedback on sentence structure, grammar, style, and word choice, as well as suggestions for improving the organization of the content and the clarity of the argument(s). Also includes proofreading for typos, errors, and consistency of formatting. 🌏 For multilingual authors—or others who are newer to scholarly writing—I also take the time to provide feedback on English expressions and colloquial vs. written usage. I’ll help give your writing a polished and professional tone, while answering your questions about English academic writing conventions along the way. 📖 I'm also happy to include document and citation formatting according to the specific style guide of the journal or publisher.
Proofreading
📃 Proofreading (on text with already-finalized content, or page proofs). 📋 Includes correction of typos and grammatical errors, as well as proofreading for consistency of formatting (e.g., bulleted lists, font styles and sizes, tables/charts). 📊📝
Book indexing
Creation of a user-friendly (reader-friendly), comprehensive book index for a book manuscript during the proofs stage. 📚 I have experience indexing both academic and non-academic non-fiction books.🤓 (This usually requires at least 3–4 weeks, after all page numbers are in place. 📖 Publishers usually allow only about 4 weeks, according to their own publication timelines, i.e., the exact timing will usually be determined by the publisher.🗂️)
