Do you know a young writer who doesn’t feel challenged by the writing assignments they receive in school? Do you worry about them losing their creative spark in a world that increasingly demands productivity over creativity? I'm Madelyn "Rosemary" Dietz, a Princeton alum in Creative Writing, a National Student Poet, a Joyce Carol Oates Award recipient, and the founder of Wordplay Wisdom, a bespoke 1:1 creative writing mentorship for gifted K–12 students who are enthusiastic about words! I work with all mediums of writing, and many of my mentees like to experiment and explore between the boundaries of genre! Every session is built around the specific writer in front of me: their curiosities, their instincts, and their unique voice. My goal as a teaching artist is to ensure every student of mine feels fully supported to make the artistic leaps they dream of, whether that means diving into the wide and wild world of publishing, finishing a massive project, or experimenting with form and genre. I’ve seen again and again how readily writers of all ages bloom when they’re given the opportunity to truly be artists - and now is a moment in time when young artists' voices need to be amplified and supported.
