I'm Aubrey Whitlock, a veteran Language Arts educator, theatre practitioner, and Shakespeare scholar with 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Hurly Burly Education is my independent consulting and tutoring practice dedicated to thoughtful, personalized learning. Whether you are a student navigating complex literature, an ESL learner, an actor preparing for an audition, or an educator seeking fresh pedagogical approaches, I offer a warm, welcoming space where your unique voice, identity, and curiosity are celebrated. At the heart of Hurly Burly Education is my core ethos: **learning in infinite variety**. I believe that great literature, complex ideas, and strong communication tools don't belong on academic pedestals, and learners never need permission to ask questions. Drawing on my background blending literary study, inclusive pedagogy, and theatre practice, my approach treats language as something to be used, tested, played with, and shared joyously. My core services include: * **Academic Tutoring & Humanities Coaching:** Tailored 1:1 support for middle school, high school, college-bound, and adult learners in reading comprehension, essay writing, literary analysis, ESL language acquisition, and much more. * **Acting & Audition Coaching:** Monologue prep, classical text coaching, cold reads, and public speaking support that helps performers make grounded, playable choices and communicate with authentic confidence. * **Workshops & Consulting:** Bespoke professional development, ELA curriculum design, and rehearsal support for schools, homeschool co-ops, and many other organizations. In both in-person and virtual spaces, I prioritize personalization over standardization and practice over perfection. I take the work seriously, but I never take myself too seriously. If you are looking for an affirming educational partner who values intellectual rigor, humor, and community, let's connect and find your way in!
