Program Assistant - Immigration Law Project

About this role

This is a full-time, on-site administrative role in Brooklyn supporting Safe Horizon's Immigration Law Project, paying $23.08–$24.08/hour. The job is the operational backbone of the program: greeting visitors and fielding calls, pre-screening potential intakes and scheduling consultations, processing payment requests and purchase orders, and keeping program statistics, databases, and resource materials current. It's a generalist support position rather than a legal or casework role — a High School Diploma/GED is required (Bachelor's preferred), with strong Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint skills, sharp organizational and writing ability. Safe Horizon is the largest victim assistance organization in the country, standing with survivors of violence, abuse, and exploitation across NYC's five boroughs and beyond. Founded in 1978, the org runs more than 100 programs — domestic violence shelters, 24-hour crisis hotlines, court-based advocacy, anti-trafficking services, and support for survivors of child abuse and homicide loss — reaching roughly 250,000 people a year. Its work centers trauma-informed, client-directed care: rather than a one-size-fits-all model, Safe Horizon connects each person to the specific mix of legal help, counseling, safety planning, or emergency housing they need.
