Social Worker, Anti-Trafficking
Safe Horizon
Posted 2 months ago
About this role
This role provides trauma-informed, client-centered intensive case management to a caseload of roughly 25–40 survivors of human trafficking, combining direct advocacy, supportive counseling, and coordination with law enforcement, program attorneys, and community partners to build a full continuum of care. Beyond casework, the role carries real programmatic weight: designing support groups and leadership-building activities, maintaining case files and funder reporting, and representing the Anti-Trafficking Program through community outreach, trainings, and anti-trafficking networks alongside the Training and Outreach Manager. An MSW plus at least a year of experience with trafficking survivors or comparable populations is required, along with Spanish fluency and cultural competency, strong writing and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently inside a multidisciplinary team of legal staff, social workers, and advocates. Safe Horizon is the largest victim assistance organization in the country, standing with survivors of violence, abuse, and exploitation across NYC's five boroughs and beyond. Founded in 1978, the org runs more than 100 programs — domestic violence shelters, 24-hour crisis hotlines, court-based advocacy, anti-trafficking services, and support for survivors of child abuse and homicide loss — reaching roughly 250,000 people a year. Its work centers trauma-informed, client-directed care: rather than a one-size-fits-all model, Safe Horizon connects each person to the specific mix of legal help, counseling, safety planning, or emergency housing they need.
