Therapy, Lgbtq+ Services
Groundfire is an explicitly anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, nerdy narrative therapy group practice. We prioritize data security, queer/trans survival and thriving, and economic justice. Our goal is to make dignifying care accessible to everyone who wishes to offer or experience it. We offer online narrative therapy by and for community-minded queers & allies in so-called "canada", and global support for practitioners and people supporting people across all borders. If you're looking for community-focused, disability-affirming, 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming, geek/nerd-affirming care—we've got you covered. Get support, support community. Emily Salja is a narrative practitioner, writer, artist, and nerd of settler-colonial ancestry and co-founder of Groundfire Counselling & Community Work. She holds multiple, often-invisible neurodivergences and disabilities and works remotely alongside fellow 2SLGBTQIA+ community members from the unceded traditional and ancestral lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and Nłeʔkepmx Tmíxʷ (Nlaka’pamux) peoples (colonially known as ‘kamloops, bc, canada’). When she's not doing narrative therapy or community work, she enjoys spending time with her spouse and co-conspirator Evren, their cat Hashbrown, reading solarpunk/hopepunk fiction, roller skating, poking about in the garden, and soaking up art from various places.

1:1 narrative therapy conversations. We find that people who consult us are generally responding to acute or systemic injustice, intense events (like grief, or joy, or both, or neither), or they have come to realize that some ways they move through life are borrowed, inherited, or not quite in alignment with their values. These conversations can be covered by extended health benefits that cover counselling in so-called 'canada', though please check with your insurance provider and your practitioner. 60-minute, 90-minute, 115-minute appointments available. Ecosystem pricing model applies. Please check https://www.groundfireccw.ca/sliding-scale-therapy for price ranges.

1:? narrative therapy conversations. We recognize all relationships (for example, non-monogamous or polyamorous, co-parenting, queer families, platonic life partners, complicated kinships, etc), though each practitioner may be particularly skilled in facilitating specific areas—always check, to be sure. Ecosystem pricing model applies. Please check https://www.groundfireccw.ca/sliding-scale-therapy for price ranges.
